This giant, self-propelling creature walks along, entirely powered by the wind.

 

Made with an intricate assembly of plastic piping, cogs and  a rubber band, this miniature Strand Beest is a replica of the giant creation of Dutch artist Theo Jansen which walks along Holland’s beaches using the wind.

 

This miniature reproduction of the ‘Animaris Ordis Parvus’ is fun to assemble and comes with easy-to-follow instructions. The kit 115 parts and assembly takes around 2 hours.

April Holiday Workshops

The April holidays are fast approaching which means that the Professor Plums Science Workshops are almost here!

We have some awesome all day courses that will keep the kids entertained and foster their love for all things scientific. Presented by Fizzics Education, these fun workshops will have you:

  • Learning about the science of flight with 'Flying High'
  • Exploring the gross wonders of the human body and all things gooey in 'Gross Anatomy' 
  • Being a mad inventor creating robots (with the brand new Lego Mindstorm EV3 robots) in 'Mindstorm Robotics'

Each course runs all day from 9:30am to 3;30pm at the North Sydney Demonstration in the Lady Hay Hall, and lunch is NOT provided so please bring along your morning tea, lunch and water. We advise that kids wear some clothes they don't mind getting dirty. Besides that just prepare for an amazing day learning about science, having bucklet loads of fun and making new friends!
